Movie Review: “Wakanda Forever”

I was able to see “Wakanda Forever” the weekend. I was excited to see this movie finally released this weekend. I had to clear my mind of what I personally wanted to and watch the movie without any preconceived notions. I was glad I did this.

One thing I love about any action movie is it having good special effects. This movie has amazing special effects. I had to keep reminding myself to focus on the entire movie. The movie invoked a range of emotions starting from the very beginning as they paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman. If you are an emotional person you will find yourself crying a bit. If you’re not, you may still cry, so be prepared. This movie takes you on a further roller coaster of feelings. You may feel shocked and even angry throughout the movie. My most impactful feeling was proud. I was proud of Shuri’s finally coming into who she really is by “showing them who she really is” when dealing with Namor.

While I originally expected Shuri to take on the Black Panther mantel a little earlier in the movie, but I understand why it was later in the movie. Now, I didn’t read the comics, but I understand a lot of people are upset by her becoming the Black Panther. Me, personally, I’m okay with it. It’s okay to make reasonable adjustments from the comics. But that’s just my humble opinion about it.

I really appreciated how they introduced Namor to the MCU and the movie itself. It was very climatic to me. Let me very honest here. I didn’t know who Namor is. I did research him a bit after and it really pleased me with how they bought him in. I also appreciated this ‘truce’ at the end with Shuri and Wakanda. Do I like him? I don’t really know that yet. I need bit more information to build with. I understand his need to protect, and even though it wasn’t right how he went about to protect his people, I appreciated the determination to protect his people/family.

Angela Basset as Queen Ramonda was a beast. She did such an amazing job in the movie that I agree with social media when they she deserves an Oscar. She showed power and the exact emotions needed to make the movie rise to an even higher level. She showed that you can be classy and powerful at the same time. For me, that was a quality that could be adapted in real life as we make moves to grow.

I appreciated the growth in all the characters in the movie. There’s no lack in options for amazing characters to pick as a favorite, outside of Shuri and Ramonda. Even as good as the movie is, I do feel like it could have been trimmed a bit more. Maybe 20-30 minutes of unnecessary information. Still, it didn’t take away from the impact of the movie.

Overall Overview. Great movie. Great special effects. Amazing acting. Good story line. A touch too long.

“La Parrilla” Business Review

La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant

Newman, GA

We recently visited this restaurant for dinner on a Saturday. It was very busy, and like most place nowadays, slightly short staffed. Even being short staffed we only had a 45 minute wait. It was 45 minutes almost to the minute too.

The staff was very friendly. There was one hiccup, but it was addressed and fixed right away without any issues. The food was magnificent. Everything looked and smelled delicious. The portions were pretty big as well. Normally I can finish off a taco salad or bowl. Not the case here. I only got about half done. Everyone had Togo boxes.

There’s not much space to wait inside for your table. So you’ll more and likely be waiting outside or in your car. You’ll receive a text when your table is ready.

The only other complaint I would have is the size of the table in the booth. With 5 people we barely had room for the food. If 2 of us wouldn’t have gotten bowls we probably wouldn’t have had space.

Product Review (Samsung S22 Ultra)

So I recently purchased the new Samsung S22 Ultra phone. Yes, before you say anything, I’m all android and Samsung has been my go to for years!! That being said here’s my latest review.

I upgraded from the Samsung Note 10+ to this phone after about three years. There are many things I like and don’t like about this phone. Some of the dislikes were surprising. Others don’t bother me as much. One of my favorite things is the fact that it’s very similar to my Note and has a SPen. That’s always a deal breaker if it doesn’t have one because of a lot of the business work I do on my phone.

Speaking of work, the cameras on the phone is amazing. It takes great pictures and videos. As a professional photographer I love how I can use a lot of the same features on my phone on my camera. While I wouldn’t sell those pictures, it does make some great photos for my personal collection as well as practice in general.

The phone is a touch bigger than the Note 10+, but that’s not a huge factor for me personally. What does bother me is how quickly the battery dies, and even more so if you’re using it. On the flip side, it charges just as quickly. Before you ask, yes, I checked my settings, brightness, apps and everything. So I know that wasn’t the issue. Being that I know work from home it’s not a HUGE deal, but it can be an inconvience.

I also hate the fact that it doesn’t come with an actual charger. That’s right ya’ll. No charger. It just so happens that my Note charger is the same size. Yay me. It comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable which can be used for charging, IF you already have an adaptor. If you do great. If not, get one when you get your phone. I guess this is the new thing because someone bought a new iPhone and it didn’t have a charger either. She had to go back out and get one. STORE REPS, please take in consideration of your customers and let them know when they are in the store shopping or ordering over the phone with you. This is important!

For me this last one isn’t as huge, but it can be and probably is to a lot of people. The Spen will not stay connected. Why does that matter? Simple, if you use the air functions with the SPen, and the pen is disconnected, you won’t be able to those functions. It’s a lot of cool things the SPen can do, but it has be connected. Who really has time to keep reconnecting it when you JUST took it out? Fix it.

Overall rating: Decent phone, not as good as the Note’s but it’ll work. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

F9 The Fast Saga (Review)

ATTENTION: This review will contain spoilers!

Now, disclaimer or if the way. I had been looking forward to this movie since the Superbowl! I would have conversations about this with my niece and nephew offering speculations. For me, this movie didn’t disappoint. I even watched it again to make sure. I was just as entertained.

One of the biggest questions most fans had was, how do you really explain Hahn and the brother nobody knew existed. Both of these were explained very well. Yea, I’m sure if I look deep enough I’ll find some holes in the story. With me, it’s not that serious. It didn’t take away from the movie, in my opinion anyway.

It was good to see our friends Twinkie and Sean from Tokyo Drift too. They didn’t have a lot of screen time, but very timely appearances. I love one Brian refreshes references that keeps him alive in the movies. They really did bring in a lot of people, some we haven’t seen in a while.

The action was flawless I thought. Originally I wasn’t sure what new stuff they could show us in this ninth installment. Yet, those magnets were amazing!!!! Kind of gave me flashbacks to Fast 5.

This was a decent introduction of John Cenea to the Fast and Furious family. I’m not a huge fan of his acting skills just yet. I do think he wasn’t bad and has huge potential for acting. I’m looking forward to seeing him grow.

On the flip side I was underwhelmed by Cardi B’s performance. Again, not awful, just very forgettable. I really did forget she was there until I watched it again.

I was disappointed to not see The Rock. Yes, I already knew he wasn’t going to be in it. Still I would have loved to see Hobbs and Jackob interact. His beef became our disappointment. At least my disappointment.

Overall I give this movie a high ranking. On my personal movie rating scale, this one you can still price to see at the movie theater or get the theater at home version. Dang Covid missing up my scale! This movie was able to keep my attention, not just the first time, but the second time as well. A must see!

Review (Hamilton, The musical)

Business Review

The Musical (Disney+)

So I finally had the chance to see “Hamilton” on Disney+. Actually by now I’ve seen it a number of times! The review is strictly based off the Disney+ version with the original cast because I have seen the live edition.

To me, there was only one thing that was really wrong in the movie. That was during the song “Satisfied” being sung mainly by Angelica. During this specific song you can see the flower on the front of her dress come and go depending on the camera and angle. How does that happen with a live performance? I don’t know, but it didn’t take away from the song and show.

I overall enjoyed the show. Enjoyed it so much I’ve watched it a number of times. I’ve downloaded the soundtrack and remix album too. This musical was surprisingly accurate. After watching the first time, I noticed some things I didn’t really remember from history, so I did some research here and there. I came to understand the founding fathers just a tad bit more. I think Lin portrayed them pretty good in the show.

I was really impressed by the accuracy of the costume designs too for that time period. At first, I was thinking it didn’t seem right, but as I was researching, I saw that it was very accurate. Many people I spoke to thought it didn’t have enough dialog. Me, I found it refreshing to not having so much talking. After all it is a musical, not just a stage play. That fact that Lin was able to do this using hip hop, rap and jazz is pretty amazing.

Of course, since it released on Disney+ I’ve been checking some of the behind the scenes and stuff too. YouTube has been great. Watching some of that helped understand the characters and actors a bit more. If I enjoy a movie, I will watch it more than once. I’m glad I did with this. I’m still spotting stuff I didn’t notice before. Things that were not necessarily in the foreground, bu more so in the background, in the shadows. Would we have seen that in the live performance? I don’t know.

The actors and actresses were all outstanding. Of course, personally some stood out more than others. However, I do give them all A+ for their amazing acting, dancing and singing. I find that they were able to fit a lot into the two and half hour performance. I know they couldn’t add everything, that would be unreasonable. They did fantastic.

Do I recommend you seeing this? YES. Will I still try to see the live version? YES.

Crisis On Infinite Earth Review

“Crisis On Infinite Earth”
Part 1-5

I hope you’ve seen all five episodes of this crossover! If not, STOP 🚨🚫✋🏾!!!!!!

There’s nothing like sitting down and watching a good movie with some popcorn. Yes, that’s what this was like, watching a movie.

There were a lot of cameos in all five episodes. There were also a lot of Easter eggs thrown in. Some I caught, others I didn’t. This crossover kept you on your toes from the beginning. We have Oliver dying at the end of Supergirl, then dying again later! Man, to see someone die twice while being a hero is though.

Many surprises rang out throughout the five hour crossover. Some we were glad to see, like the Flash from the movies! That made my night there! Other surprises we could have done without, although vital, like Lex Luther. Then all the changes he made to his benefit. Of course, I personally felt some appearances didn’t really add to the crossover. My number one would be Mia, Oliver’s daughter. Sure didn’t do much but run off at the mouth, which took away from some of the scenes she was in. Yes, I know it was grief probably talking.

There were so many things to like, a few to dislike. One thing I hated was that it seemed like they had extra commercials, especially the last two hours. Maybe they should have did minimal commercials throughout.

Overall it was a great crossover. I enjoyed watching it. I’m looking forward to seeing more from Black Lighting and seeing an appearance from Star Girl.

“The Masked Singer” Review

“The Masked Singer”

I finally watched this show on Fox. I binged both seasons. I must say I was impressed with show.

A show where already famous people are masked and sing! The singer with the lowest votes is then unmasked. The judges are given clues each week to the identity of the singers.

One of the things I really liked about this show is they didn’t make it easy to guess who they are. Watching two seasons I only guessed three people! The host, Nick Cannon, doesn’t even know who they are. I also like the fact that he can’t officially guess who it is.

It was a great cast of judges and guest judges who were having fun. Nick is a great host, slightly predictable, but good. It’s definitely worth the time to watch. I’m looking forward to season three, which starts after the Superbowl.

Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 3 Review

Crisis On Infinite Earths

Part 3

The Flash

This review will contain spoilers! Stop now if you haven’t watched it!!!

Wow!!! That’s the only way to describe hour three of this crisis! This episode blew me away!! I don’t even know where to begin!

This episode started off like the others, you seeing worlds being destroyed with some cameos on those earths. One the major surprise cameos was Lucifer. I didn’t expect to see him, nor do I recall seeing him on any of the flyers that were floating around. Kudos for that surprise.

In a way I wish Oliver had went back, but I’m glad he didn’t, that would have made the episode too easy and predictable. Now his purpose is another story all together that we’ll have to wait and see. I really like how Diggle and Mia accepted that even though it was heartbreaking.

The death of Flash from Earth 90, the return of Vibe and the introduction of Black Lighting were all key components. The ultimate tear jerker came watching the waverider disappear. I liked seeing them still stand together acknowledging that the others will still defeat the anti monitor. I appreciated how they threw in Superman’s acknowledgement nod to Iris before they disappeared.

The biggest surprise to me had to be Lex Luther changing destiny at the last moment to replace Brandon’s Superman. Can we say double wow for that well played twist!?!?

One big question for me was answered here. We saw the flyers with Vibe, and wanted to know how that was possible. We got that answer with this episode. It was from the Monitor.

Overall this was the best of the three hours so far, even though they were all good. I enjoyed all the plot twist and the cameos in here. Now the only downside is that we have to wait until Jan 14th to catch the last two installments!!!!

Crisis On Infinite Earths PT 2 Review

Crisis On Infinite Earths PT 2

Again this review will contain some spoilers from part 2 of crisis!!

Part 2 took place during the Batwoman episode. While I’m still on the fence about the series itself, I enjoyed seeing her interact with the other heroes. It really bought her into the Arrowverse this time.

I enjoyed the development of this episode. While it didn’t answer a number questions, it also created many more questions.

I am glad she’s is the bat of the future and not Bruce Wayne. I liked seeing Brandon in blue. However I’m still partial to Earth 38 Superman. Still it good seeing him play the two roles.

Overall it was another good episode filled with our superheroes. The only thing I think could have been better is if we started to see some big questions answered.
